Atlas Industries
It is not often that one finds wood and metal workers in the same studio. Thomas Wright and Joseph Fratesi have applied their sharp eye and passion for design to create a minimally rich collection of furniture masterfully marrying the cool textured look of cold rolled steel with the warm counterpoint of velvety hardwoods (maple, cherry and walnut, by way of example). This carefully edited grouping of free standing gems was spawned from their hugely popular modular system, and the growing interest and requests of their clients (just read the testimonials on their website). This is why we think this expanding line is special:
- We relish the juxtaposition of the wood (none that are endangered) and cold rolled steel (just as it appears straight from the steel mill).
- The line is tactile….you want to feel it, experience and bring it home; it works anywhere.
- The designs are reminiscent of the mid century masters, beckoning to the likes of Mis van de Rohe, Paol Kjaeraholm and others.
